The Cupcakery is Winnipeg’s first exclusive cupcake retail store. Our objective was to present The Cupcakery and its ridiculously good cupcakes as a modern alternative to the donut. We positioned our client as being friendly, clean, beautiful and delicious. The photography brought the cuteness, sweetness and desirability of the cupcake together with our prime female audience suggesting that donuts are passé and old-school, while cupcakes are new, fun, cute and delectable.
In addition to the usual stationary, retail signage, labels and sell sheets, SCD developed a guerrilla marketing campaign using a coloured paper 11 x 17 black inked poster that was hand placed around the city. It positioned the cupcake as the new donut.
